Trump and "fake news"...

I don't know whether this goes here or under "Rant Room," so wherever it goes is your decision, but something that's been ever bothering me lately:

Why does Donald Trump insist that news outlets that report the news as it happens (without all the bull gipp of "The other side is evil," among other things) are "fake news," and that FOX News (with its constant judgment against Democrats, liberals and the left) is real news?

This (the 6 P.M. report from WCBD Channel 2 in Charleston, SC in 1986; news title of TV-2 Eyewitness News) is and was, IMO, real news-- reporting the news as it happened in a half-hour, without all the opinionated junk.

It's pretty simple: if it casts Trump in a good light, it's real news; if it casts him in a bad light, it's fake news.

And since most of the news that's real tends to cast him in a bad light, he's not happy with anything truthful, calling it all "lies" and "fake news".

Trump, as became clear early on, projects everything... All throughout the 2016 campaign, he claimed Hillary's email scandal was "bigger than Watergate" and that "she should be in jail" and that the biased media "refuses to cover it." When, in fact, the media was covering her email scandal ad nauseum, ignoring most of his substantive baggage in favor of just covering his bombast, and now it's looking like the "bigger than Watergate" scandal which could land someone in jail is his own.

He also said for months before the election that the vote was "going to be rigged" endlessly, saying the only way it wouldn't be rigged is if he were to win. When we now know that it was rigged, to what ever degree, in his favor and he knew it.

Then, last fall as election day was approaching, the term "fake news" began to be bandied about as cyber specialists determined that the son of one of Trump's staffers had been colluding with Russian bloggers close to the Kremlin to spam the Internet with outrageous anti-Hillary "news" items to skew public opinion (like pedophile pizzagate). So Trump instantly co-opted the term "fake news" and began using it every 5 seconds whenever there was a negative story about him or his policies.

And he knows his supporters are too dumb, or too disengaged, or too cognitively dissonant, to know or care.

So that's what he's doing. It's just Donald Trump.

That's just about the size of it! That's classic Trump right there. So I guess that anyone who does not fawn all over Trump all the time ("He's doing great things for this nation" or "He's the greatest President this nation has ever had"), etc. etc. like FOX and Breitbart do is to be considered fake according to Trump, I take it?
