I had no idea THE BURNING BED had been rated that high. Farrah gives a good performance, but I refuse to re-watch the movie. Seeing a woman beat up for 90 minutes isn't my idea of entertainment.

Here is a 1993 report from Entertainment Weekly on the most successful actresses in TV movies and miniseries.
It is interesting to see which projects EW ranked as the most memorable and which as the most forgettable for each of these actresses.
I hadn't really had Mare Winningham on my radar before. While I know who she is, I wasn't aware that TV movies were her forte (perhaps I simply haven't seen many of them). Nor did I know until now that she had been nominated for a total of eight Emmys (and even an Oscar).

I also think this is interesting. Clearly, Winningham doesn´t belong here, she´s sort of a mini-Meryl Streep of all mediums. I discovered here in "The Thorn Birds" as Rachel Ward´s daughter (!!) and her character was, very likely, the better of all the ladies there, along with Barbara Stanwyck´s, of course.
I´ve always loved Cheryl, Jaclyn, Jane, Victoria, and more lately, Farrah. I found Lindsay quite good in the remake of "I Want To Live!", though not so much in "Scruples". Victoria has a few more TVMs in her résumé, and I did enjoy her in "Not Just Another Affair" (she played a kind of parody of her Pammy). By the way, Gil Gerard was mega-hot in that one... Lucky Vicky!

Yes, it's strange that she is considered to be a more successful TV actress than Stefanie Powers or Susan Blakely.
It's almost as if they want to punish her for her role in The Thorn Birds because she and Ken Howard played the least interesting characters. I've also read the novel and I struggled to get through that last part of the story. It wasn't their fault.
Agree again. Scruples needed a less familiar face for its lead character. Btw, the book is better (not great, just better) and the mini-series did not make me forget that.
It describes gay sex so as a 14 y/o I was reading it with red ears, sorry for the clumsy translation of that expression.
Farrah is such an oddball in the film business, she always looks like stunt/celebrity casting.
A few years ago I stumbled upon a review for a Jaclyn Smith movie - don't remember which one - and that person wrote nothing about the film, he/she only described in ten thousand words what a beautiful goddess Jaclyn was. I guess every actress has her fair share of deranged fanboys but the review was laugh out loud funny therefore it didn't bother me.
