Crossroads would go through a series of changes in 1987, all aimed at shaking off its old reputation and bringing in a new, more desirable demographic of viewers. Characters were axed, the motel became Kings Oak Country Hotel, the theme tune was changed completely and the show was retitled Crossroads Kings Oak, with a view to it eventually just being titled Kings Oak, with the Crossroads aspect being assigned to the dustbin. Despite a positive viewer response to the changes and plans to give the show a Sunday omnibus, the show was axed anyway in late 1987, with the final episodes airing on Easter Monday 1988.</blockquote>
