I think you could add "Galaxy Four" to the list
Unfortunately, the episodes are among the "lost"
I think that at least one partial film clip is still in existence
Oh yeah, I watched "Galaxy 4" when they made it into a cartoon. They made it really bold and colourful. It looked great.
Moffatt, more than any other showrunner,
explored the complexities of time travel, and its' paradoxes and contradictions.
Sometimes it was great, other times a bit difficult to understand
For me, it was pretty much always great and a bit difficult to understand. The theme I'm talking about here though doesn't have much to do with time travel. It's more like: how do we free ourselves the seemingly impossible physical conundrum we suddenly find ourselves in, even as other dangers/complications mount up around us?

Hmmm....I don't know what it is but it's been mentioned on the forum before.
Should I suppress my curiosity or....
Oh I think you'd like it. It's from (half of) the same people who made The League of Gentlemen (the UK TV series, not the US franchise thingy), if that means anything.

I could only find trailers, but here's a man speaking in about three different accents at the same time explaining how good it is:

once I've seen a few episodes
And this already starts with a dilemma: should I buy series 1 just to make sure that I really like it, or pre-order the (obviously) more expensive complete set?
1717333835944.png

I've also watched some clips from their other TV series but those appear to be more in the vein of Monty Python - absurd humour played by absurd characters in absurd situations. That's the kind of humour that makes me laugh afterwards, but almost never in the moment it happens.
I think that's why the film IN FABRIC is such a masterpiece - it doesn't combine humour with horror, it's funny because of the horror and at the same time it's creepy because of the deadpan humour. Hopefully I'll find some of that in INSIDE NO. 9.

Oh, by the way, it was a very nice surprise to recognise a certain actor in one of the Psychoville clips.

I see it got a one-star rating based on opinion that the DVD is unnecessary because we (??) can already watch it on the i-player.

Some people....
Remember this is an anthology series, so there's no necessity to watch them in order. I'd recommend buying DVD of series 3 and watch that, one of the best series, and then more if that goes down well. Hidden below by spoiler tab is a few lines about each episode in series 3, your choice if you want to read it.

1.The Devil Of Christmas
Location - ski chalet
A family on holiday arrive at the chalet with their tour guide.
A picture on the wall depicts an evil looking figure, dressed in black, a goblin kidnapping a child at Xmas. The guide reveals this is The Krampus, an evil version of Santa....
Suddenly we hear the director giving comments, talking about the plot and acting etc., the picture freezes and rewinds and plays . We are watching a recording being played back of an old 70's movie. But why? Who is the director talking to?
With Rula Lenska.
2. The Bill
Location - a restaurant
Three northerners take Craig , a southerner out for a Tapas meal, but end up arguing about paying the bill. A fierce argument ensues with everyone insistent they want to pay..A scuffle breaks out, a knife drawn, the waitress is slashed in the throat! Hells bells now what!
3. The Riddle Of The Sphinx
Student Nina breaks into the office of classicist professor Squires at Uni. Squires compiles the varsity cryptic crosswords under the pseudonym The Sphinx.
He and the girl spend an uncomfortable time as she explains why she's there.
A real double double twist in the tale, as someone else enters with murder in mind and cannibalism!
Location -professor's study
4.Empty Orchestra
Location - karaoke booth.
With Sarah Hadland and Tamzin Outhwaite.
In a karaoke booth, an office party takes place, the relationships , intrigue etc of the group is cleverly related using the characters performing karaoke. About 90% of the dialogue is within the songs.
5.Diddle Diddle Dumpling
A disturbing tale, a married man finds a single shoe outside his house and is determined to find the owner.
He advertises it on line, sets up a blog, leaves his job , to find the owner of this unremarkable black shoe. His marriage disintegrates but on he goes, but why?
Location - suburban house ( number 9 is not a location here, but the shoe size)
With Keeley Hawes
6.Private View
Location -gallery space
In an art gallery strangers have been invited to a retrospective viewing of someone's work they never heard of, but why them? One by one they get murdered!
With Felicity Kendall.

And a complete box set wouldn't be completely complete anyway as it presumably doesn't include the final series which is still being aired over here.

It says "all 9 series", maybe that's why it's not released yet.
But in case I want it I'll check the info and comments carefully, I had already made this mistake with LINE OF DUTY (to be fair, season 6 wasn't even filmed yet).

I've already ordered the first series (+ a film + Are You Being Served? as the price has come down again. Sometimes it feels like a stock exchange!)

The main DW site doesn't report ratings anymore.
It doesn't matter to me one way or the other, but I find it curious.

I haven't seen the new series, but from what I read, a few impressions:

Two episodes have been described as "Doctor-Lite" In an 8 episode season, why?
Ruby seems to be written like a sci-fi Disney Princess. Doesn't matter to me,
but I did think from the beginning that Disney would not be a silent partner.
Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor seems to combine the Tom Baker/Graham Williams era humor
with The Davison era Doctor who was sometimes less than overwhelming in resolving the main story.
Not a bad strategy at all, but my sense is that the scripts haven't quite figured out
his Doctor yet.
Not relying much on past adversaries - this is good, too many have been overused,
but we need to see some who have not yet appeared since the re;launch - Rani, Meddling Monk, Tobias Vaughn,
Black Guardian, Valeyard, Sutek just to name a few.

Biggest concern is wha Disney thinks, and how it will effect the future of the show after the "New" season 2

I understand that now Richard E Grant is being acknowledged as a past Doctor?
I don't know how that fits.
A possibility?
In "Destiny of the Daleks", Romana changes appearances several times before her new one is finalized.
Since we have to assume that an intelligent woman would not waste half her regenerations,
it is possible that a Time Lord's regenerative state is somewhat unstable for a time
until the new appearance is final.
Perhaps when McGann regenerated into Hurt,
or Hurt regenerated into Eccleston,
the Grant Doctor was an interim phase.
By the way, I never cared for the Hurt Doctor. He is a grat actor, but the performance
seemed very average, not to mention unnecessary.
Would much rather have seen McGann return

Also saw some utub with Jinx Monsoon
Generally, I don't care for over the top humor
JM was good, and maybe OTT was appropriate for the story, but it just makes me cringe.
I much prefer adversaries like Derek Jacobi's Master, Roger Delgado's Master,
Jageroth, Michael Wisher's Davros, Diana Rigg's Winifred,
Michael Jayston's Valeyard, Kate O'Mara's Rani,
Steven Thorne's Omega
just to name a few.
All charismatic adversaries without overdoing it

It is certainly discouraging to see how low the ratings are. It would indicate that the future of the show
is uncertain at best, more likely it will cease production.
I do not blame NG
From what little I have seen, he seems to be capable
of playing the role quite well
The likely cause of these poor ratings is that millions of fans have departed
as a result of the Chibnall/Whitaker disaster, a false and contradictory) origin story,
and concerns about the Disney partnership.
These fans have not yet regained confidence in the show.

Ratings seemed to recover during David Tennant's return,
because his era was the most successful one since the relaunch
However, any number of factors (ie scheduling, concerns abouts Disney's involvement, etc)
have impaired what seemed to be renewed interest.

It's worth noting that even with the 2nd lowest rated episode of the entire series this episode was comfortably most watched programme across all channels on the day of broadcast - so these ratings say more about the lack of viewership of telly in general than just about Doctor Who.

People around the world, who are not signed up to Disney+ or in the UK for when episodes drop at midnight on i-player are downloading the show to watch therefore the ratings are not reflecting these millions of downloads. Also, in the UK, if people are able to watch it from midnight, they've probably watched each episode a few times before BBC1 screen it - the deal with Disney+ has really put a bomb is the ratings and no one really knows just how many people are watching the show now, which is a great shame.

I live in Portugal and download it on Saturday morning, the series has improved with each episode IMO, but Ncuti and Millie are absolutely fantastic and a joy to watch,

Game of Thrones took the world by storm a few years ago, but we'll never know the true ratings because it was the most illegally downloaded show ever - Doctor Who has this same problem now. Series 2 is complete and RTD has written 3 episodes of series 3, although it's not been officially commissioned.

But if it's showing up each week in Disney+ top 10s world wide I would assume Disney is happy.

In the UK those who watch on Iplayer before it's broadcast are included in the +7 ratings as has been the case for other shows in the past few years. It's not right to say that an early release will lower ratings. So the low ratings in the UK are of concern - but as pointed above it still 'won the day'.

I can imagine there's a lot of illegal downloading abroad but even with that it's doing well on Disney.
