And now watched the first episode SARDINES.

My hip went that colour when I fell up some steps at Legoland.

I think I said an episode of the new series of Who reminded me of Inside No 9 and it went from there.

Also, the two creators, writers and stars of Inside No 9 have both been in Who. Steve Pemberton was in 'Silence in the Library' and Reece Shearsmith in 'Sleep No More'. Reece also played the Second Doctor very briefly in Adventures in Time and Space, which is a beautifully funny and moving film about the early days of Doctor Who which I'd recommend to anyone who's not seen it.

It relates to my personal, first experience - which is what this thread was meant to be in the first place.
Others joined the thread and started to discuss future doctors and storylines that I'm not able to watch yet, but since I'm a cool guy I decided not to mention it.

The fact that I'm enjoying Inside No. 9 in my "own" Doctor Who thread is more relevant than discussions about ratings and Disney and whatnot.

If you (and some others) hadn't mentioned these issues they probably would have been ignored by the forum member - me - watching NuWho for the first time.
Not that it bothers me or anything, I was only pointing out that it isn't up to you to decide what is and what isn't relevant in this thread.

I was not talking about relevance, I just did not know what the reference was
Watching NuWho - there are many issues and perspectives.
More info is better.
It is good to be aware of the many elements that effect production,

The more you know the more preoccupied you'll become, and there's nothing you can do about it anyway (except for watching or not-watching).
I don't mind ratings but it has very little to do with the joy of watching and discussing TV episodes.

When the episode looks great I already know they've done a great job (intentionally or not), I don't need any figures to confirm or deny it.
I do like to read reviews and to find out how it compares to my own impressions, but that's an after-the-fact kind of fun.

WOW - no spoilers on the first part of the series 14 finale, but the big bad is a fantastic choice.

Many theories on who/what is was and some were 100% correct.

Awful finale in my opinion - just didn't pick up the baton that was left with the previous episode's cliffhanger. Very disappointing.

It was completely mad and I really enjoyed it, but I'll wait till the Guardian publish their review this evening to find out what my actual opinion is. I also loved the "homework" we were set between episodes: to watch the new Pyramids of Mars omnibus.

It seems like a disappointing season ender.
Multiple issues
Sutek, the most powerful of them all, who was so formidable in "Pyramids of Mars"
is defeated by putting a leash on him? Unbelievable
Why does Sutek care who Ruby's Mother is, especially if she is ordinary
(which makes no sense, nor does the Doctor's Explanation)
How did Ruby's Mother survive?
Mrs Flood could be River Song, Romana, the Rani, Susan, Iris, Flavia, Inquisitor.. or maybe
the terrible Zodin?

Ncuti Gatwa seems charismatic, but it also seems like the scripts have not
yet brought out his best work.

Ratings -seem low, but ultimately, Disney will determine if they are good enough for a 3rd Season

Just speaking for myself, nothing can come close to the experience of actually watching an episode. I mean, what else is there? Everything else is a distraction at best, and can only serve to weaken the impact of experiencing the episode firsthand, or spoil it altogether. (They don't call 'em spoilers for nothing.)

Someone posted on Twitter last week that although they'd quite enjoyed the new series of Who, they'll be relieved when it's over because then the online Who discussions will be less intense. That seems so weird to me -- as if the discussions and everything surrounding Who are the most important thing and watching it is something you almost have to get out of the way so you can go back to talking about it!

No everything else is not a "distraction'
I have seen clips and I have read multiple reviews which includes content.
That is more than enough to comment about plot, script, characters and consistency with the show's history.

It is good when people comment, intensely or otherwise, about the show, whether or not it is in the current season.
It informs the powers-that-be that there is an audience that cares deeply about the show, and that there is year-around interest.
Furthermore, the production team can gain insights into what is working and what is not working

People can certainly enjoy any show that appeals to them.
It is also good when people can suggest improvements

I am having difficulty believing that Sutek went unobserved in the TARDIS after "Pyramids of Mars"
The Tardis is supposed to have a state of grace, and internal defenses.
How does Sutek go unobserved by the White Guardian and the Black Guardian?
The TARDIS was destroyed and rebuilt in "Frontios"
"The Doctor's Wife" - the TARDIS is in the form of a human female
The cloister bell?
Part of the TARDIS was jettisoned in "Castrovalva"
Multiple Regenerations in the TARDIS - wouldn't Sutek try to take the Doctor's Form?
Compliments to Ncuti Gatwa for a portrayal of the Doctor that has lots of potential,
but RTD dropped the ball on this one, I am sad tos say.
Arguably the Doctor's most powerful adversary, ever, is defeated by
a dog collar - I can't support that.
