2017 I think (unless it is 2016)
So at first I thought--I bet with 10 pages whatever I would want to post is already there. So imagine my surprise when my favourite group of all time was not even here--and an amazingly era-defining song.

Pet Shop Boys: West End Girls

However, this is my favourite of their songs,

Throughout the 80s and 90s, LCQ was my favourite of theirs. As brilliant as West End Girls is, I felt it was vastly overplayed and it took many years for me to truly appreciate it again

Now when I listen to PSB, I find I gravitate towards songs I didn't care for when they were first released.

LCQ did not become my favorite until I truly fell in love, which was way late in life (as opposed, I found out, the times I thought I had been in love). I loved West End Girls in its original run, but the song that was my favorite before LCQ was this

Left to My Own Devices

I mean, any song with the lines
"But in the back of my head I heard distant feet
Che Guevara and Debussy to a disco beat"
had me at hello.

I can still remember where I was when I first heard this one. I bought their Introspective LP for the remix of "Always on My Mind" and when LTMOD came on it blew my mind. To make it even more special was the cheap price due to just 6 tracks.

Happy days!

I came across the word WAVELENGTH the other day, I can't remember how or why, but instantly I remembered there was a band/group called this in the 80s. I was searching everywhere on Spotify to find the song but only found a recording by Steve Thomspon. So it was off to the good old YouTube of this world and there it was waiting for me.
