Open Water (2003) I often watch this as part of a shark film jag and it's a nice change to watch it independently where it holds up on its own merits (I haven't even watched Jaws this year). It's a really well-made film, with documentary-like realism which adds to the increasing feeling of anxiety, panic and disorientation. I've never found the main characters likeable and I think may be intentional as it adds a satisfying layer of schadenfreude on seeing this entitled, self-centred couple stuck in the middle of the ocean with only one another. This time round I found them a little more likeable, helped by the fact I watched it with the actors' audio commentary.
