Relatives of the main characters liked to appear in Knots Landing. Some had more visits from relatives than others, some even had none at all. Who should have had more relatives on the show?

What could have been interesting storylines for relatives and which actors would have been a good fit for these roles?

They made an effort to create an offscreen sister for Mack, named Megan. Obviously we never saw her, but I think the show-runners were trying to keep an option open by establishing her existence. Too bad they did not do a similar set-up for Greg having an offscreen sister when he was introduced because then Claudia's existence would not have taken us by surprise later on.

I find it hard to believe that Anne Matheson did not leave behind at least one or two secret children, probably dumping them off on her ex-husbands to raise.

Sorry not to bring anything new to the table, but Anne is the first character that comes to mind. Outside of being Paige's mother, and not a very good one at that, and Mack's first love from a wealthy family, there was little we learned about Anne.

There just seems to be so much to unpack about her. We could explore her ex-husbands or whether or not she had siblings or more children.

Whose to say? What's left undiscovered about Anne?

I don't know if anyone needed more relatives. I would like to have seen the existing Fairgates used more often. They were still Abby's and Eric and Michael's family even after Sid died.

This might've brought on some more tension that having Linda marrying into the Fairgate family. Sid and Abby had relatives that they grew up with, and it would've been interesting to see them come to Knots Landing after Sid died.

Well, we did see Sid's daughter in the first season, but to my knowledge, she was never referred to again.

There was also Sid and Karen's nephew, Paul who made a one-episode appearance after Sid died. In a thread discussing the origins of Lotus Point we mulled over how Paul's branch of the family tree was forgotten by the time we heard about "Uncle Roger" and the division of his apartment building.

We met Susan Philby, Sid's bitch-on-wheels first wife and mother of Annie. I wonder just how Abby must have felt about Susan and Annie, since Abby was accustomed to being the center of Sid's life almost from her birth. Having a sister-in-law who was basically a wicked stepmother dividing Sid's attention must have made young Abby into a holy terror, and lord only knows what she must have felt toward young Annie, who further took away Sid's attentions.
