I've been dipping in and out of Emmerdale lately, and while we've heard Chris and Rachel's name pop up in a number of conversations since Joe Tate returned, I don't think we have heard Zoe and Jean being mentioned at all unless I'm wrong.
Are they still in New Zealand? Or back in the UK now, it would seem very strange that Zoe would send Joseph half way round the world to a boarding school, especially since she loved Joe as if he were her own son, Zoe was very nurturing, the only thing I can suggest is that they must've fallen out some years back, over something big.
I don't think this will be the end of Joe's story yet, and I think more Tate's could return, especially Jean, since she would be around fifteen years old now.
I like how Robert and Joe are going to be rivals, very fitting considering the Sugden's and the Tate's are so entwined with each other, after all Chris's first wife was Kathy, whose own first husband was Jackie Merrick, Robert's older brother, Jackie was also the step-cousin to Rachel who obviously would go to become Chris's 2nd wife and mother to Joe.
So I guess that Robert and Joe are step cousins once removed, man what a family tree!
