Does anyone remember or know the solution to the murder mystery of "WHO KILLED JOCK EWING back in 1985. I recently found an old copy of the book and I do not remember the solution that was announced at the end of the contest. Better yet does anyone know where I can find the final chapter that was published back then???

Back in 1985 if your not that old to remember Robert Tine wrote a tie-in murder mystery called "WHO KILLED JOCK EWING???" It was a contest where after reading the book
you completed a entry form with your guess as to who the murderer was. (They left out the last chapter of the book) They offered various prizes including a top prize of $50,000 and other 2nd and 3rd place prizes as well.
After the contest was over , the author or publisher (I do not remember who) was to post the solution publicly. Their are two editions, the USA and a British UK version. I have read the book several times but I cannot remember the solution which is why I am reaching out to all the wonderful "Dalaholics" fans like me to see if anyone can remember Who Killed Jock Ewing"..

The book is available on Ebay and Amazon I believe...

I don't think the killer was ever revealed. The whole point of the book was to drop a few clues in the text and leave it up to readers to draw their own conclusions as to who was the culprit. Revealing the killing would have spoilt the story for new readers.

The killer was revealed in a newspaper in december 1985.

This post is what led to me discovering this forum. I have been looking for this newspaper for DECADES. I'm glad to see that it exists, but clicking on the small picture in the post just leads me to a general pintrest page, and not a larger version of the picture, so I can't see what the newspaper says. Do you have a larger version of this picture, or does anyone have a lead on where I might actually be able to get a copy? This post is literally the only thing on the internet that gave me anysort of clue about this, and I thank you very much for that!

I definitely have the book. It's that newspaper with the solution that I'm after. You could send a letter to get a list of winners along with the final chapter of the book, which I'm assuming is what that newspaper was. That little picture I quoted that I can't blow up enough to read clearly, and that leads to a dead link, is the only clue I've ever gotten that there's at least one out there. I just wish I could read it. LOL
