The Birds (1963) has never been one of my favorite Hitch movies at all, honestly i find it rather boring compared Psycho (1960) which is an utter Masterpiece.
though North by northwest (1959) is my personal favorite Hitch film and well he's my favorite director of all time. the man was a Genius i think!

Rear Window (1954) while not a terrible film is again not one of my favorites either i'd rather watch 'The Trouble With Harry (1955) a far better film though a black comedy. The Farmer's Wife (1928) is i think my favorite silent picture of his though, has anyone seen that one?

I actually preferred his tv series "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" over his films.

This was a series of self contained, short stories which usually had a twist or sting in the tale.

Alfred would appear and do a monologue at the beginning of each show.

It was a lot like "Tales of the Unexpected" in the U.K.

I used to love watching it when it aired on Granada TV late at night in the 1990s.

And often produced by Norman Lloyd who we just lost a few days ago -- at age 106!

anyone hear what Hitch thought of his own movies? it's simply amazing how some of them he i think called shit. The Mountain Eagle (1926) i think was the title?
it's one of his lost films and it hasn't been seen since (1926) when it was released i don't think. well he thought that was his worst film he hated it and he was glad it was lost. as for me? he might be right it may just be that bad of a film but i'd stlil love to see it though

I liked his TV show.
A great filmmaker, although the biopics about him seem...not flattering.
And poor Tippi Hedren. He seemed to treat her harshly

And poor Tippi Hedren
Hitch was obsessed with several of the actresses in his films. He was miffed Grace Kelly married into royalty and bowed out of Hollywood, and he was angry when Vera Miles did the silliest thing ever by getting pregnant and therefore making herself enable to fulfill her commitment to VERTIGO -- which, as the story goes, Hitch had groomed her for.

Hitch seems to have been most possessive over Tippi. He basically discovered her, renamed her, and gave her a splashy debut in THE BIRDS. To Hitch, Tippi owed him a great deal and he positioned himself as her svengali, dictating her wardrobe, hair, makeup, you name it. The Hitch-Hedren fizzled after MARNIE underperformed, and Tippi wasn't in another movie for three years.

Most -- so it seems -- appear to have enjoyed working with Hitch. Doris Day and Kim Novak have said mostly favorable things, as did Grace Kelly.
