I don’t know if anyone could’ve made that ridiculous dialogue work.I doubt Morgan would have lowered herself to reciting that awful "Bobby loves emeralds" speech.
I my head I hear Faye Dunaway screaming "NO MORE EMERALDS EVER!!!!"I don’t know if anyone could’ve made that ridiculous dialogue work.
Okay, maybe there is one person that could’ve made it work then.I my head I hear Faye Dunaway screaming "NO MORE EMERALDS EVER!!!!"
Although I think Morgan was the best of the three Jennas and she wouldn't have gone as tense and wild-eyed as PP did in the role, I don't think the role was worth her time. Her version of Jenna was more conniving, but DALLAS already had one scheming Morgan chasing after Bobby; another would have been superfluous. Morgan F could have played a warmer Jenna, but to what avail. It seems like a waste of her gifts and, no matter what, Jenna was a narrative dead-end.
I don't think it would matter who played Jenna. As @Crimson has said over and over, Jenna creates no conflict within the family. Would Fairchild have been more tolerable? Yeah. But the character still would have been less than.As I've always said, Fairchild's Jenna was too predatory for the later, smugger Bobby. Presley's guileless, vulnerable Jenna was all he would have accepted by then.
The only conflict the character really created was for Bobby and Pam. Once they were back together and Jenna had lost out the character really didn’t have much left to do, hence the pairing with Ray. They probably should’ve wrapped up the Jenna storyline in early season 10. If season 9 is not made a dream the end of that season would be the perfect exit for her.Jenna creates no conflict within the family.
Mhm, there was no reason for Jenna and Charlie to remain on the show post-Bobby breakup. They should have slipped off to the side much like other ex-relationship characters did. Imagine if we'd kept Dusty and Linda on screen when Dusty was out of Sue Ellen's plotline. The only conflict the character really created was for Bobby and Pam. Yes, the characters had run their course by that point. Jenna sticking around to still be a thorn in Pam’s side in season 10 served its purpose but was it really needed? It just felt like the whole Bobby-Jenna-Pam triangle was overplayed by this time.Mhm, there was no reason for Jenna and Charlie to remain on the show post-Bobby breakup. Even if Morgan was playing the character at this particular point I think the character’s shelf life was up.
When Katherine returns (briefly) in season 11 she could’ve killed Jenna at this point in an attempt to “settle some old scores.” Then we find out later she did in fact have something to do with Pam’s disappearance as well so in a way they could’ve written it to look like she was removing two birds at once. Since she’s never seen again nothing is ever done about any of it. It kind of works.Katherine should have had Jenna murdered and pinned on Pam; that would have been a better story.
I think what also hurt PP’s Jenna was the lack of a definitive answer about Charlie’s paternity for awhile. That conversation with Bobby at Southfork by the pool should’ve happened a lot sooner. Granted we already knew he wasn’t supposed to be the father from Morgan’s Jenna but suspending a little disbelief for a moment at that glaring rewrite it felt like Jenna #3 might’ve been stringing Bobby along a little in the beginning. Bobby had a right to know the truth sooner. I liked Jenna, and unlike most I liked PP’s Jenna but that storyline didn’t exactly help her win over a lot of fans or make her more likable.Morgan's Jenna was vixen like. PP's was sweet and pure.. I think the producers/writers wanted us to like Jenna, wanted us to root for her. It would have tough to do that if it was the same character as played by Morgan.
I hear what you are saying, but for me it was the acting. PP couldn't hold her own with anyone else in the cast. Morgan would have ate their lunch.I think what also hurt PP’s Jenna was the lack of a definitive answer about Charlie’s paternity for awhile. No, she wasn’t Morgan. I’ll concede that of course. Morgan was the best version of the character.I hear what you are saying, but for me it was the acting. PP couldn't hold her own with anyone else in the cast. Morgan would have ate their lunch.
I know she was already Jenna Wade, but she would have been great as Katherine Wentworth, or a smarter Holly Harewood.
Having said that, both Morgan Brittany and Lois Chiles played those roles quite well.
