I am not disputing the behind-the-scenes business, I'm just saying that I like to watch original Miss Ellie as much as I like to watch JR (and preferably together because I always enjoyed their arguments). Dallas isn't about ratings and success and decline, it's about what's happening on-screen and who's doing what (or who). Incidentally, would Jock have been "reduced to supporting cast" if Miss Ellie had died?
