There are lots of names that I think deserved to be on the short list. Chris Froome won the Tour de France and Anthony Joshua became IBF world heavyweight champion, both would have been worthy. Why is Jamie Vardy there? If an individual from Leicester City should have been on the list to represent their stunning Premier League victory, it should have been Claudio Ranieri rather than singling out just one player. It wasn't that long ago that the award went to the Queen's granddaughter which I think completely devalued the prestige of winning. So maybe Andy Murray isn't a bad choice after all.
