I'm just watching a Ted Shackelford interview that @Julia's Gun posted in the Knots Forum. His opinion on Pam's Dream (from 7:40 in the first link above) and its impact on Knots is as refreshingly candid as ever. I thought it was worth transcribing here for posterity: Ted: That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. I mean, the shower. "I had a dream". I thought that was the stupidest thing I ever heard of. What are ya gonna do? I mean, it's like, it impacts so many different storylines that if you acknowledge it, it just all unravels. I mean, it's a very delicate tapestry we weave anyway, on television, so you take one little thread out of it and the whole thing just falls apart. Nobody touched it. Nobody said anything. Nobody did anything. Interviewer: They ask you to suspend your disbelief... Ted: Right. And then they ask too much. They're asking you to constitute that poetic faith just a little too much. Knots famously ignored Bobby's resurrection altogether: no doubt at least a factor in it remaining the most consistently watchable - and credible - of the nighttime soaps for the latter part of the Eighties and into the following decade. I'd love to know more about the discussions that took place with its producers, cast and writers around that decision.
