Figuring out what was in Katherine’s mind is probably a thread all in itself but I would assume part of her motivation had to be the resentment she felt for Pam and Rebecca becoming so close. It would’ve made for more drama between J.R. and Sue Ellen had they gone this route but ultimately it would’ve made their doctor-patient relationship much more complicated in my opinion. Dr. Ellby actually ends up being the hero for helping her figure out she didn’t shoot J.R. Had they had an affair I’m thinking he wouldn’t be as well received in the end.</blockquote>
