I'm not saying he's evil incarnate. Fundamentally I think he's overall a good guy but you're right, there is some creepiness too. The Velvet Rope interview, Patrick clearly says Linda is the love of his life. Continues to say they could have been together in 1978 (no mention of his wife and kids) but it took them that long to circle back. Yes, the interviewer said he saved the best for last but Patrick agreed and said he was going to use that line. It's just a really lousy way to describe a new relationship under the circumstances of his wife dying. If they had a messy divorce, by all means but it wasn't. It's just very unfortunate to describe it that way. This is a total side bar but the creepy comment reminds me of his first social media experiences during the TNT days. He was answering a lot of questions on Twitter from one poster in particular (more so than others). She had a very pretty blonde pic as "her?" profile pic. I could totally tell he was enchanted by the pretty blonde woman but....lol, I knew it was a pic of Blake Lively and he thought it was who he was interacting with! He's just a dog. :)
