DYNASTY's Seasons 1, 2 and 9 were downright good. But 3 through 8 got dumber and dumber. DALLAS was good through Pam's exit (although Reed's Mis-Ellie and the dream resolution bode poorly for where the show was headed. For the records, FALCON CREST's Seasons 1, 2 and 3 were good. And KNOTS didn't stumble during the '80s. Yes, that could have kept DYNASTY focused in a way it rarely was after Season 2 (until Season 9). But the usual writers probably couldn't have pulled it off -- although they probably thought they did! The occasional reference to mergers and "shale oil extraction" processes just don't cut it in the business plot sweepstakes.
