Darcey Bussell quits Strictly Come Dancing

Dame Darcey Bussell is to step down as a judge from BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing.

She has been a member of the judging panel for seven series, having joined in 2012.

Dame Darcey said she was "not leaving because of any upset or disagreement", but to focus on "other commitments".

She added: "It has been a complete privilege for me to be part of Strictly, working with such a talented team."

It has not yet been announced who will replace her on the show.

She was always an odd choice. She was a ballet dancer which doesn't really qualify her to comment on ballroom. That said, she didn't do a bad job though.

Charlton from Fresh Prince was surprisingly good when he covered for Bruno so I think he will be high on the producers list as a possible replacement

I wonder if they could persuade Len Goodman to reprise his role on the judging panel.

Failing that, I'd love to see Strictly pro, Oti Mabuse get it. She was excellent as a judge on The Greatest Dancer which aired earlier on in the year.

I was really surprised to hear this. She's great. Reminds me a bit of Linda. (But that's not why I think she's great. OK maybe a wee bit).

If only it was Tess Daly leaving the show. I never could work out exactly what talent she has. Awful presenter.

She is dreadful. I've seen SCD filmed in Blackpool and she reads everything - everything - off an autocue, even things that should be natural and fun.

Strictly pro, Oti Mabuse's sister, Motsi has been confirmed as the new judge and replacement for Darcey Bussell.
