On the American soap opera side, there were some comebacks/returns that didn't seem to amount to much. On Guiding Light, in 1995 there were two actresses that were popular on the soap in the 80s that both made their returns to the soap with one of the actresses having an adjustment period before the show became focused solely on her (Kim Zimmer as Reva Shayne) while the other actress seemed to struggle for about three years before she stopped appearing altogether (Lisa Brown as Nola Reardon). I remember people were excited that Nola was coming back, she had been fairly popular during her 1980 to 1985 stint, including a popular gothic fairytale coupling with another character Quint before they left the show in the spring of 1985. When she came back, she came back solo stating that Quint had cheated on her.. and just seemed a sad depressing presence on the show. Despite later bringing back Michael Tylo as Quint and casting someone to play their son.. the show didn't seem that invested in their characters/story with Quint eventually vanishing and her on screen son J leaving in 1997 while her character ends up stalking Buzz Cooper while the show using her fantasies like how it was done back in the day didn't work as well.. and eventually she stopped appearing on the show in early 1998. She didn't end up coming back until 2009 when the show was being canceled.
