I'm disappointed that Tuchel didn't pick Trent for the England squad.

So am I - I feel for Trent and to an extent Harry McGuire as he is pretty good as a defender and can score a goal or two
Also surprised Morgan Gibbs White and Palmer not picked

but John Stones makes the team! and Henderson ?? how and why?

Id also pick Danny Welbeck as he has had a great season at Brighton with lots of goals and can still do it!

As usual, I am rooting for Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France and Spain.

Can't believe Sweden qualified after how enormously bad we were in the qualifications. Switching coach to Graham Potter gave a huge upswing.

Supporting England, naturally.

Some of the Kick Off times are going to make watching every match an impossibility for those of us in the UK but I'll certainly be watching the opening match between South Africa and Mexico on 11 June and as many of the evening matches as I possibly can - just not the ones in the dead of the night, I need to sleep.

Can you believe it - Scotland have been given a Public holiday for their 1st game on Mon ? 16th - June

I have chosen to work it as

A - I'm not staying up late to watch a mediocre at best side play in the early hours of Sun morning
B - I get a day back in lieu and PH money ie time and 60% extra - whats not to like!!??

Bit sad for their to be a public holiday for the match to be honest, but each country to their own. Glad England's kick off times are relatively sensible - i.e 9pm, 9pm and 10pm so there was no question of public holidays although no doubt still loads of sickies to be pulled by some who imbibe that bit too much. Should see some pretty strong ratings though for the 9pm and 10pm KOs.

A tip: the rules suspending games because of thunderstorms seems very strict. If a lightning strike is within 8 miles of the stadium the game is suspended and a 30 minute countdown begins. If a second one strikes the clock is automatically zeroed and the 30 minutes start counting again.
Also a pre tournament match I recorded on Premier had no thunderstorm stoppages but overan the allotted 2hrs scheduled because of the drink breaks. Luckily I got the whole game by recording the following programme.
So therefore if recording an overnight match it may be advisable to record the following programme just in case.
Also it looks like they'll be no breakfast highlights shows for overnight games, except possibly England or Scotland games, so recording them might be best.

The highlights of matches will be on BBC Iplayer / ITVX, it's irritating there'll be no linear highlights show but the highlights themselves will still be there to watch.

Hope everyone is suitably excited for the upcoming tournament, with just over 48 hours to go until the opening ceremony - it's worth looking at the first set of group fixtures and seeing if there's any you're particularly keen to watch. England and Scotland matches are obviously the most eye-catching but there's a few others I might make a special effort to watch; including Netherlands v Japan and France v Senegal. Although I'll be attempting to catch as many matches as possible, I'm not staying up for the really late kick offs.
