These two French miniseries are currently available to watch on YouTube for a limited time: "De Grâce" (English Title: "Haven of Grace") centers on a drug trafficking case that sparks a power struggle between two factions of the SGT dockworkers' union. The miniseries depicts the daily lives of the family of Pierre Leprieur, an SGT dockworker. Unfortunately, the miniseries was a disappointment for me. The basic premise is good, and the direction and score are interesting at times—especially early on—but it doesn't really go anywhere. Each episode features numerous twists, but they tend to make you lose interest rather than keep you engaged. "Camarades" (English Title: "Comrades") is a satire set in France, after May 1968: At the newly founded reform university of Vincennes, anti-authoritarian thought, revolutionary action, and state surveillance clash. The prostitute Claudine is sent to infiltrate a Maoist student group as an informant—and becomes an activist herself. As I watched "Camarades", it increasingly reminded me of the two-season French series "OVNI(s)" (English title: "UFOs"), as both shows are very tongue-in-cheek. By the way, "OVNI(s)" has one of the most interesting scores of any French series; here is the opening sequence as proof:
