From Turner Bates to Charley St. James.

If there ever was a character that had a maligned love life in a T.V. show it was sweet vulnerable Emma. Her mother meddled too much but on one or two occasions it was warranted. There were ten men who became attracted to Emma; Turner Bates, Dr. Foster, Dr. Ranson, Gustav Riebmann, Damon Rossini, Dwayne Cooley, Vince Karlotti, Curtis Estabrook, Daniel Cabot and Charley St. James.

Sadly there was a pattern and nobody was around long enough for a good stable relationship. The one man who could have provided this was trucker country fellow Dwayne Cooley. He sadly died in the earthquake but they were well suited. Do you agree that Emma could have lived happily ever after with him, all things remaining equal?


There is a flat tyre on Angela’s new white Rolls Royce Silver Cloud. All the occupants dismount, (a scene from season 5, 1985-’86):

Dwayne: “The jack is missing.”

Angela: “That’s impossible! This is a new car!”

Emma: “The jack is in my bedroom. I didn’t think you were going to need it.”

Angela: “What you do, change a bed post?”

Emma was great fun. She probably could have lived happily ever after with Dwayne but not at Falcon Crest.

Ah Emma and Dwayne were sweethearts and head over heels in love. They were made for each other.

I agree, it was very sweet, but I found her relations with Turner Bates and Daniel Cabot more convincing. And soaps don't like happily-ever-afters because it means the end of that particular story, or in this case, "Emma".
But I wish I could have spared her (and me) the Charley St. James disaster.
