Garnett Mc Gee

[Billy Nolan]

Yesterday we watched the episode about the singer "Garnett McGee." Was it meant seriously that she was a great singer? Or was it more like "real-life satire"? We were thoroughly amused by her off-key singing. LOL

[Spells & Karma]

Kind of like an extended wealthy family all brushing shoulders in one modest ranch, I'd say it's one of those examples where suspension of disbelief helps.

It doesn't so much matter what we think of the singing, so long as we can accept that they like it enough for us to believe she's en route to country stardom.

“We can looovve one another!”

kind of ironically, Lucy was a better singer! Despite the preposterously bad editing in RUNAWAY, that’s actually Charlene singing “Silver Threads And Golden Needles”, sounding like a competent grizzled veteran.

(I think the crowd was going for a “dotted quarter note polyrhythm” with their clapping? Those listeners are sophisticated in music-mad Austin!)

poor Kate Mulgrew was saddled with some “can’t win” roles before becoming Captain Janeway! Mrs. Columbo, Garnet McGee, who knows what else…

(at least poor Kate didn’t have to be Leslie Stewart!)

Captain Janeway could sing? Who knew! LOL
