Happy 47th Birthday to Dallas

April 2nd celebrates the 47th anniversary/birthday of Dallas TV show made by Lorimar Productions and its scary to think where the years have gone and the money I have spent on it over the years, so I wont!!
I'm glad I am the age I am to have enjoyed it and grown up with it from day 1. And i never thought that I would still be talking Dallas when I first watched it in 1978.

1980 will always be the Special year for Dallas as it was the year that JR got shot and it dominated the headlines and news for that year with speculation , intrigue and it really did put Dallas on the map and made Larry Hagman above anyone else a huge global star. It was the year i turned from a viewer into a fan - no make that addict following BBGs performance in Mastectomy

Dallas (original) has dominated my life and Im not sure of thats a good thing with hindsight but i treasure my Dallas memories like no other TV show and Im grateful to have got on the Dallas set in 1983 and to have met a lot of the cast then, and since then. Its also been great to have met so many Dallas fans at events over the past few decades, both in UK and USA. Sadly a lot of people no longer post here.

To the cast members no longer here, you will never be forgotten, and thanks to DVD you will live on in our hearts and memories. Larry, Barbara, Howard, Jim, Ken et al - you were part of something very special

This is the photo i will always associate with the show, that hung in the Den and epitomises the show for me

Im glad the Forum still exists but Dallas stars dont make the news anymore - mainly Priscilla Presley now and sometimes it seems there is little new to say but Dallas will always have a special place in my heart and will always be my favourite show especially mini to S6 and 8 original
It changed when VP left and the final few seasons were a sad reflection on what it used to be but 1978 - 83 were the best ever

And he was somewhat of one as Tony Nelson (alongside Barbara Eden in the title role) on I Dream of Jeannie on NBC in the 60s and for a tiny fraction of the 70s, but Dallas from the Tiffany Network really showed what a magic actor he was as J.R. Ewing.

For me Dallas was a little bit of a slow burn but once it kicked into overdrive with Sue Ellen's pregnancy I was glued to my television. Nothing since comes close to my heart which Dallas still holds. If I recall I only knew of Patrick Duffy (Man from Atlantis) and Larry Hagman (I Dream of Jeannie). It's been mentioned here numerous times that the casting for Dallas was superb...it was. A great ensemble and only enhanced with additional actors and perfectly cast secondary characters.

Dallas changed the television landscape. Without it there would have been no Knots Landing, Dynasty, Falcon Crest. It proved to the television executives there was a market for big adult contemporary drama. We had Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law, E.R. The Sopranos, Succession and now Yellowstone and its spin-offs.

And lastly. Thank you Dallas for creating the cliff-hanger. A tool still used today.

47. Where have the years gone?

And St. Elsewhere on the medical side as well (which has been said to be Hill Street Blues in a hospital).

Happy birthday dear "Dallas" (and still looking 28, like Victoria when she started playing Pam!)

Here is one of my first "Dallas" videos ever (on YouTube, that is), and below is my complete Playlist of "Dallas Only" videos:
