Now, we need a writer here, but... During Season 8 (DVD count) after Pam learns that JR hired the pilot to send her on a wild goose chase to find Mark Graison, an enraged, Pam vows to hurt JR so he can feel the kind of pain she's feeling. So Pam has crossed the Rubicon, planning to join into the Barnes-Ewing feud once-and-for-all to exact her righteous vengeance. She made some impassioned speeches but, alas, nothing really ever came of it (in fact, she dreams she sold her part of the company to JR just a few months later). But what could be done so that something Pam did -- in business and related to the feud -- would indirectly lead to Bobby's death on the hood of Katherine's car (other than simply his staying overnight at Pam's house). Giving Pam ever more reason to grieve guiltily the next season. It's classic DALLAS irony, the "great big morality play" Susan Howard once described the show, "with all these wealthy people with every advantage imaginable, constantly stabbing away at each other, for nothing." One tiny detail, some small action which Pam took led unintentionally to her ex-husband's death by Miss Wentworth, might not even be noticed by the casual viewer before the Bobbyapocalypse happens. But Pam herself would realize it after-the-fact, decimating her all the further. By the same Southforkian ironic standard, and given that Bobby's death and Pam's crash two years later are karmically linked, the truck Pam careened into should have turned out to, coincidentally, be owned by JR doing illegal oil business in the Texas badlands after the censure by the feds. Leaving JR to run around the next season trying to keep the resurrected Bobby from finding out -- and then once Bobby does, Bobby now has to run around and keep the feds from learning about it.
