[QUOTE="Spooky Owl!, post: 422954, member: 57984"] Have we ever talked about this 1997 series (since Soapchat crashed 9 years ago)? Does anybody recall seeing it? It only aired for eight episodes (from January through April) and was quickly cancalled. Larry Hagman played Judge Luther Charbonnet -- a great name -- in, obviously, New Orleans, Louisiana. I liked the flavor of the series -- to a point, and it had a locational ambiance more easily achieved in the '90s (than the endlessly self-conscious '80s). And, frankly, I might have liked to have seen J.R. go this way in the closing years of DALLAS -- especially had it run a couple of years longer: crustier and slyer in a more world-weary way, but somehow even more intimidating. Unfortunately, the very first scene of ORLEANS was a very bad sign: a girl had been wrapped up in something (maybe a rug) and dumped off a bridge. And when a few men desperately rescued her, freeing her from her soggy sarcophagus, she not only jumps out of her casket of carpet fully alive and feisty, she angrily chews the men out for their efforts (I guess she "didn't need no man!" even under those circumstances) and then stormed off. An independent '90s lady, one supposes. Ugh. But there were things about ORLEANS I wanted to like, particularly Big Easy Bayou Larry.
