I think Doug thought at the end of Season 7 that the Ben character had gone as far as he could. He did Season 8, and with the way that Ben left, one had the impression that Ben would definitely be back again, yet he never did come back, probably because of budget cuts. The cuts are clearly going deeper again in Season 12, and then again in Season 14.</p></blockquote><p></p>
