I first watched in 2018 ish and I attempted a rewatch a couple of years ago but the self-contained episodes kind of put me off getting into the groove of a proper binge.I made the decision around New Year that I definitely wanted to get back into it and I am so pleased I did. I'm on season 3 now and I'm awaiting the introduction of Mack at some point. I loved the Sid/Karen relationship during my first watch, and subsequently the Mack/Karen relationship afterwards. This time, I found Sid slightly less loveable towards the end but it might've just been knowing and preparing myself for what happens to him meant that I wasn't so attached.There's something funny about rewatching and knowing that certain things are going to happen but being unclear when they'll happen. When will Mack show up? I'm not sure. When will Paige show up? No idea. When will Greg appear? Not a clue. But I know it's coming.Anyway, another random thought is that they did a fantastic job with Abby from the get go. Donna is just stunning and so nuanced in her performance, but the writers also gave Abby a real edge about her which I am so enjoying. The little breadcrumbs of a long game towards Abby/Gary is fascinating. I had totally forgotten about just how well Abby and Val got along before Abby and Gary became an item.I've always liked Karen too, but I really do like her so much haha. Her comment about feeling like she missed out on activism is such an informed self-reflection.Val is so complicated; her sunny, sweetness is just wonderful, even when she's constantly put upon by the people around her. Lilimae is just the worst lol. I find her grating to watch.JR showing up in KL is a delight too. The writers gave JR such a comedic element which Larry clearly enjoyed playing. It's kind of nice seeing JR show up and not be in charge; the change of situation gives the character time to be something else for a little while.I had written on another thread that Richard is also kind of nuanced. What a jerk he is, but also he does care, sometimes. It's so interesting to see that complexity in a character.Final thought (for now, because I'm sure I have more thoughts I just haven't remembered), I adore the sense of community in Seaview Circle. I assume this is partially true and partially exaggerated for plot. The way the people on the cul-de-sac interact is so natural and supportive. When people talk about it takes a village, this is what they mean. It's so comforting to watch.Edit (I knew there was more lol): Kenny and Ginger. I had zero interest in rewatching for them, I remember thinking they were such boring, useless characters. This time around they're... ok. I like Ginger a lot more than Kenny, but I'd still not particularly care if they disappeared. I know I get my wish soon. Don't recall how it happens or why. We'll wait and see.</blockquote>
