"The Colby Diagnostic", dated from december 1986, which came from the materials donated by Paul Huson and William Bast to UCLA. The diagnostic was made by ABC among 300 regular viewers of "The Colbys" in order to see which characters (and storylines) were popular.

Dominique was indeed very popular (despite the fact she was just in a few episodes), she was actually ranked 5th after Jason, Jeff, Sable (yes, Sable was ONLY third !!), Fallon and BEFORE Francesca (who was ranked in a respectable 6th place), Miles, Monica, Zach and Bliss (who unsurprisingly was not very popular).
- thanks for this great stuff....
can´t believe Sable wasn´t number 1 and Francesca was more popular than Miles!!!
- it´s the samle with Sable ... she was only in a few episodes of Dynasty but ranked number 1 (37%) when "STAR" asked in November 1987 "who did you miss most?" - followed by Dominique (30%) - even Dominique had no real storyline she was a big fan fav ...
Dominque should have been brought over to the Colbys immediately or at the very least at the beginning of Season 02 (07 of Dynasty).

She was completely wasted on Dynasty in her final year.
- so true! Together with Caress ...they could have shaken up "The Colbys" a lot and could have got the screen time they deserved ...
firing Ross. Jason falls in love with Caress ... Zach is dating Dominique ... Sable has a lot of dirty tricks to do ...
Did Ken Howard decide to leave on his own or was he fired? It was strange that Garrett didn't want to take care of his injured long-lost daughter and just disappeared to New York.
- I think I read he was fired ... when they re-tooled Dynasty´s S6 somebody from "ABC" stated something like they weren´t interested in Dominique & Garrett very much ...

When announcing Ken Howard’s departure it was stated he had signed to host a weekly beauty pageant, as well as going to teach at a drama school and work in theatre with his mentor, Robert Brustein. It was stated in news pieces at the time that he was taking a break from showbusiness. He himself said that when he told his mother that he was leaving Dynasty/The Colbys for the American Repertory Theater, she said, "Isn't that delightful dear, but perhaps you could talk to the producers. Maybe you could go into a coma.” He also later described working on both shows as being like factory jobs. He talked of having to get it done in a couple of takes and thinking about what is the simplest way to get this done. Sometimes at the cost of the creative process.

On Ebay, the script of the first episode of "The Colbys" is on sale. Interestingly, the name of the actors are mentioned in one of the page (see the attached file) and instead of Ken Howard, the name of Ron Howard is mentioned. It must be a mistake but it is quite amusing I think.

Also, the actor playing Henderson (the butler) is not Ivan Bonar but Ben Hartigan. A last-minute change probably.
I'm a late bloomer to this thread, but wow there's a lot of misspelled names in that screenshot.
