by having Celia return as the pissed-off ex-wife who wants to bankrupt her ex-husband and make the new trophy wife miserable.....model her schemes and attitude more closely on the original Alexis as NS departs. The other Carringtons' heads would be spinning.

An excellent idea Daniel which - more than likely - have this viewer revisit Dynasty. I'd go a step further and write up an episode which revisits the Season 1 cliffhanger where we know Alexis goes running up the stairs screaming out for Cristal as the barn burns. Who knows what occurred after this point. In fact Alexis could have been lying this whole time about Cristal/Celia. If The CW wish for viewers to return they need the producers and writers of Dynasty to step up their game and get serious about this reboot. The departure of Nicolette could (or not) energise Dynasty.

We also did not learn (through dialogue nor actual footage) how Steven managed to escape unscathed. I think his eyewitness testimony would be more reliable than anything Alexis says, since we're now conditioned to believe everything out of her mouth is a lie.

Its such a shame. The Season 1 Cliffhanger proved that NuDynasty could be a worthy successor to the original series. Only threw it all out the window now...

Well, it wasn't the cliffhanger for me but other moments. For example, Tom Carrington. I have frequently said that I find reboots a terrible idea except when the reboot creator has a clear vision and reason(s) for rebooting a show. Dynasty, fascinating as it often was in its early seasons and even later at times, was a bonanza of missed opportunities and I was intrigued when it looked like they might try to do that with Tom and before that with Ted. But they neutralized (or neutered) Ted and killed Tom quickly, and after a promising start relegated Kirby to Sam's sidesick (himself a former sidekick of Anders), so I don't see them going that route. The last episode that aired also was captivating in how they re-visioned Mark, but I am afraid the show's desire to close all doors for thrills is terminal. After they also waste the chance on Dominique, it will have run out of any claims to deserve to stay on the Netflix/CW life support.

Either way, I can't see it lasting too much longer. Then we can all go back to obsessing over the original series...

Let's fancy what we could have had instead of that fishy and stinking and cheap and expired caviar substitute...
A touch of Douglas Sirk, some technicolors, a brand new glamourous cast, decent writers and the perfume of nostalgia...
It worked for "Mad Men" and many other shows... A prequel ought to be the only obvious choice for a new Dynasty franchise...

It would appear the producers in their haste to distance themselves from Nathalie Kelley and Cristal/Celia the time jump was required. The problem for the viewer? No payoff. Rather than continue from the fire and we witness the death of Cristal/Celia which would have been thoroughly enjoyable and shocking we head straight into comic relief with a parrot sitting on a guys shoulder.
