I don't quite feel that way, but I understand their aversion to it.The things they did for Season 12 -- getting out of the offices, the range war, Halleyville, the trip to "Yurp" and Russia, Sue Ellen's movie -- were all things I could tolerate, and reflected the program's desire to rediscover its Texas roots, among other things. But the silliness hurt it. They needed to get a little grimier and edgier, with more of an atmosphere of Texas back roads and distinctively Texas corruption we hadn't quite had since, maybe, the 1978 miniseries... Sordid scandal, vile things buried deep in the past, lurid Lone Star political misbehaviors, etc...  That might have been the way for DALLAS to recalibrate for its final quarter or fifth sector, before the series exited. Not that I think they should take on the Kennedy murder -- other than, perhaps obliquely -- as it's not really necessary. But this kind of thing, generally... Season 12 just seems like the time for something of this flavor:</blockquote>
