As I near the end of the "Dream Season" I have to admit I've loved watching it all these years later. I was a little apprehensive prior to my watch but thought just dive in and enjoy the ride...and what a ride its been. The stand out performances were Barbara Bel and Linda Gray with special mention to Steve and Susan. Dallas was brave in airing such sensitive topics as abortion, Down Syndrome and children with special needs. Sure Dallas went all Dynasty but I didn't feel distracted by it. While the ladies kept up their high maintenance appearances this was balanced with Ray still working the ranch and the rodeo. JR was in the thick of it all season; wheeling and dealing. The character of Angelica Nero wasn't as confronting as I thought she would be. Barbara Carrera played her with just the right amount of coldness I expected from such a devious villain. I had hoped the writers would have pushed the envelope and hinted Angelica and Grace were in a relationship. I still get that vibe all these years later. As I'm about to bid farewell to the Dream Season I still had hopes for what could have been a thrilling season without Bobby. There was no need for the introduction of Angelica Nero or Matt Cantrell. Upon reflection these stories were still a distraction. After the death of a major character like Bobby the story should have focused tightly on the Ewing and Barnes family and the ripple affect of what Bobby's death really meant to each and every one of them, especially for Pam when Bobby plonked her in the Ewing office. Jenna appeared to be side-lined for much of the season until the end. This was disappointing as it felt too little too late. Her confrontations with Pam at Southfork lacked the chemistry I had hoped for when both characters came to the realization who Bobby was talking to: "...all that wasted time..." Many had issues with the Dream Season however it wasn't as bad as I remembered it, in fact I've found myself binge watching 3-4 episodes in one sitting such was the joy in watching it. Perhaps the resolution coming soon in "Return To Camelot" is what frustrates many viewers. It's that realization we've been cheated after investing in 31 episodes...all for nothing. Score: 8/10
