The complete, five-season DVD set is going to be released on January 24th.


Note how they've gotten a LOT of mileage out of these images over the years. As long as it was going to be a photo-shop thing, I would have LOVED to see them include images of C2 and Celia, NS's Alexis, and maybe even 'shop "Fallexis" into the crowd, just to be subversive. C2 and C3 would be giving each other the side-eye, while Celia would be glaring at NS's Alexis. They could even insert an image of Amanda (missing from this image) about to break a vase over Adam's head.

I'm on the fence about buying the set. I haven't bought a DVD in ages, much less invested in a complete series (it's being sold for $59.99, which is not expensive for over a hundred episodes).

There is something funny about it. The way I'm looking at the front image I shouldn't be able to see the spine/width of the boxset.
And Grant Show looks so short, wasn't he a tall guy in Melrose Place?

And something I hadn't noticed before: the CW's DYNASTY font doesn't make sense with the shadow parts on the right and the left. That only works if the image is supposed to be curved, but that's also not what it looks like.

I'm only after buying a second DVD complete series boxset of the original Dynasty.

Is it worth purchasing this re-booted Dynasty on DVD?

I think I watched one episode of it and didn't like it.

Is it worth me giving the show another chance?

Grant Show looks ridiculous with his hands in his pockets* and trying to do a pelvic thrust. His placement in the image HAS to be some sort of contractual obligation, because you'd have to be brain dead not to know Liz Gillies carries this series on her shoulder(pads).

Just as odd and out-of-sync is the "As seen on the CW" seal on it. That won't age well. The CW is soon to be renamed and is already being re-imagined by new owners, not that the CW was some well-regarded brand even when it was still recognizable. It's like saying "As seen on CNN+". Most people watched it on Netflix anyway.


* Some 'motivational speaker'-type writer once said "No one ever climbed Mount Everest with their hands in their pockets". A BS artist like Blake ought never have his hands in his pockets. He ought to have them in other people's pockets.

The individual images of the cast in this "collage" have been moved around several times in various photos over the years. I think these images were originally produced for S4 press materials, and rather than do successive photo shoots as they added and subtracted cast members, they would just photoshop the same stuff together and change a few colors or something. My guess is that the CW didn't want to spend the money on publicity materials by that point so the show 'recycled'.



This image seems to be the same "stuff," just smooshed together with a less-attractive background.

This one obviously desaturated some colours. When I googled the 2022 image in March per image search I've found the background image they
used but I didn't keep it. Sadly the Google image search has changed since and isn't very good any longer. So my X-mas present to you - using the penthouse nightmare as a backdrop to play with in Photoshop and adding your family members - has been cancelled as is our favourite nighttime soap. Sorry!
