A few more episodes into Series Six and I've changed my outlook. Most of these recent episodes have been very enjoyable in their own ways. The George (It Ain't Half Hot Mum) Layton/Jonathan Lynn writing team's first episodes were fine (their very first being a memorable one with Stan and Olive going to marriage guidance). The last episode I watched - smack in the middle of Series Six - was a flashback episode, with them remembering Blakey becoming Inspector, Jack's first day on the job and Arthur arriving to take the room at the house before accidentally stumbling into Olive's bed (leaving Mabel delighted since she had grounds to force him to marry Olive). These episodes are sometimes a sign of a series running out of story, but it actually freshened things up here, and the flashbacks were very well done with decent attention to detail. I'm still not thrilled at the prospect of the upcoming Arthur-less series but, even if it's terrible, each episode brings me closer to watching the films in glorious HD.
