1. “It's over. None of that happened” (Season Nine - Return To Camelot) I think of jumping the shark as something a TV show can only do once. This is THE moment when Dallas lost all credibility beyond redemption. Never again could I consider seriously investing in anything they served up. There was no coming back from this. I'll stretch out my choices to include another couple of moments, one from two years earlier and another from two years later. They're not the actual shark jumping moment in my opinion, but show how the quality was dropping leading up to the shark jumping and how quickly the rot set in afterwards. 2. “Mama - you look like a new woman” (Season Seven - Homecoming) This dropping the ball moment certainly paved the way for #1 by asking the audience to play dumb and pretend they hadn't noticed a change that threw off the whole show. 3. “You mean that bastard is still alive?” (Season Eleven - Carousel) A moment which symbolises how quickly people stopped giving a crap once the shark was jumped. Not just the audience, but the writers and cast. Dallas became a satire of itself with no basis in any kind of reality and phoned-in performances. In place of any sense of jeopardy, JR channelled Tony Nelson as he lay in his hospital bed demanding bleepy machines to make him look ill. And nobody cared.
