How difficult could it have been to re-visit those first several seasons and eat into the bone of what that 'magic' was. As Dallas weathered my impression is the series was consuming itself from the inside out, and it all starts with the Barbara Bel Geddes/ Donna Reed debacle. Then we had to deal with the 'Dream Season', the mummified Pam and the humiliating stories to end the series. I had high expectations Dallas: JR Returns and Dallas: War of the Ewings would correct those last "just end it already" seasons but it would seem they still had not learnt their lesson. Larry, Patrick and Linda appeared to be playing for laughs rather than playing it straight. Of course along came TNT Dallas and it further eroded my confidence in a brand I've had a keen interest in for near on 40 years. Perhaps my expectations were too high. Maybe, just maybe Dallas was never meant to return in any format in today's viewing climate. Those posters who stated Dallas was a show for its time and rightfully should have stayed there were right all along.</blockquote>
