We need to remember, it's not just the current administration -- vile though they are. Would Biden (or Biden's team) have refused Israel's invitation to attack Iran in order "to protect" Israel from The Bomb Iran was not about to develop?? I think not. The hawks in the American federal government/corporate nexus have been pushing for chaos and (inevitably mutual) destruction for years now, inching towards Armageddon with the oddly-common belief that Armageddon is "winnable" and even desirable... Perhaps they believe that those underground bunkers for the very, very rich will protect them (if they even think it out that far). They always view these things as "game on." But sociopaths run everything. Always have. And the sociopaths who have the most power tend to be the least afraid even of their own self-destruction. And this has happened before. In 1961, the CIA and Joint Chiefs met with JFK and tried to talk him into initiating a nuclear assault not only on Cuba but also The Soviet Union ("Russia" by any other name), the hawks under the misguided belief that the USSR's retaliatory capability was limited enough that we could wipe them all out and "only" suffer 30 million American deaths (at the worst) in response... So, we win .... JFK declined, walking out of the meeting uttering expletives -- and suffered the ultimate personal price for the "weakness" of his choices. Yes. If only it was as rogue as we'd like to believe. Ironically, it may be up to Russia -- a country with whom we're currently in a proxy war -- to save us from ourselves. How, exactly, is another question.
