For whatever reason he still considers himself and Kristin a couple and when he calls Southfork, Sue Ellen suggests that it would be a romantic gesture to entertain Kristin with a surprise visit. It's going to cost him his career.Too bad Valene didn't get the chance to meet him, she could have picked the light bulbs out of his head.Meanwhile, Miss Ellie tracks down Gary who is sort of unofficially-temporarily breaking up with Valene. Miss Ellie convinces him to take responsibility because more time and more distance isn't going to fix anything. Then Gary spontaneously proposes to Valene.Sue Ellen gets wind of the situation and then she does a mini-soliloque in her darkened Southfork lair - that room that she uses to sit in her chair, and nobody sits in a chair like Sue Ellen Ewing, all high and mighty. That particular scenery combined with the sinister score feels like I'm watching the resident psycho plotting her next slasher.Jock doesn't want to come to the wedding but of course he does it anyway. Both Jock and JR are usually the antagonists in their respective scenes with Gary and/or Valene, and even though I'm influenced by the narrative itself I find it interesting that the combination of their physical appearances instantly captures those feelings of tension and intimidation. This episode also gives Miss Ellie the opportunity to redeem herself regarding Lucy's upbringing.

Verification: Who played JR Ewing?
