In the film Wilhelm, German Crown Prince, sends Anna, the lead singer of the Berlin Imperial Opera company, on a visit to the front line to entertain the troops. She&#039;s having an affair with Nikolaus,&nbsp; a tenor, who insists on going as well to protect her. While there, she sings Silent Night and the British troops hear her and the chaplain takes out his bagpipes and plays along and the men from both sides listen in complete silence. It&#039;s a moving scene that gets me misty eyed even though I&#039;ve seen the film once before. Both sides get together and decide on calling a truce until the next day. There are various subplots involving the characters from the different armies and when the ceasefire is over, the men don&#039;t see their enemies in the same way again.</blockquote>
