JR was pretty abusive if I remember - slapping her and forcing himself on her - I think . . . . but I can’t really remember for sure.I didn’t like JR or feel sorry for him in the show but I do remember feeling sorry for him when he was a young boy  - there was an episode when Miss Ellie mentions how nervous and sensitive he was as a child and so Jock basically was hard on him to try and make him into what he thought a man should be - so I would say Jock had a lot to answer for and Ellie should have been more protective of her boy.</blockquote>
