Fans of Dynasty could be forgiven for their all-consuming rage when the show's third season did not appear on Netflix on October 12.
Following Riverdale's season four US premiere on The CW on October 9, the teen drama landed on the streaming platform the next day for its international audience.
But the same courtesy was not extended to Dynasty. Warning: people got sweary.
And it wasn't just the show's fans who were confused about Dynasty's disappearing act on Netflix.
Josh Schwartz, one of the brains behind the show, was alerted to the issue on Twitter.
"@JoshSchwartz76 What happened to #Dynasty for International fans?" asked Georgia Makitalo.
"I am currently (American) in Sweden & it always airs on #Netflix Saturday 9am. I know there was new deal but Dynasty was supposedly grandfathered in with #Riverdale, which is available. Did someone drop the ball?"
Schwartz replied: "We are looking into why the delay for @cw_dynasty viewers on @netflix international! Don't have an answer yet!"
He has yet to come back with an answer.
Digital Spy has reached out to The CW for comment.
The "deal" that Makitalo referenced in her tweet is the contract that existed between Netflix and The CW, which was first signed back in 2011 before being renewed in 2016.
That agreement allows big CW titles such as Riverdale, Dynasty, Arrow and The Flash to stream on Netflix, which is great for those of us who don't live in the US and can't access The CW.
But it expired earlier this year after a decision was made not to renew it – the likes of CBS and Warner Bros, which distribute a number of the broadcaster's mos popular shows, are reevaluating their relationship with Netflix as they invest in their own streaming platforms.
Netflix will now have to go head-to-head with other distributors to get its hands on brand-new CW properties.
They could still make their way onto Netflix, but it's not guaranteed.
As for the legacy series – shows that arrived before 2019, such as Riverdale and Dynasty –they will still continue to air on Netflix, but future seasons will be released eight days after the season finales.
Judging by Riverdale's current Netflix release, we're guessing that show managed to slip through before the changes were put in place, or else that, assuming Netflix was only able to bring forward one show, it prioritized that one.
Dynasty season three first aired on October 11 and will likely conclude in May 2020, as both seasons one and two have, which means Netflix subscribers can watch the show in... May, or possibly even June, 2020.
It's far from ideal for those who have followed the drama from the very beginning, but the best things in life are worth waiting for.
