Appreciate what you are saying but you are looking at the past. A release on physical media today is far from a spectacle, even if it is a show that had never been available on VHS, DVD or BluRay before. In fact you almost counter argue the point you've made. There are so many options of Dallas on physical media and fans have bought one or more of them a long time ago. LHOTP has a broader audience in any event and is timeless as it could be a show made today to run on Hallmark or one of the family-friendly channels. It was repeated across countless channels until 2010 over and over again. Even today it still bring in decent ratings on linear TV. That doesn't apply to Dallas. Again, that creates costs. DW is a very different product. One fan buying physical media while tens of thousands are streaming is far from being a success. It's the opposite. It means the company has lost money, a considerable amount. Had it stuck to selling streaming rights only then it would not only have paid for the remastering but also made a profit. It's all well and good for you to say you don't feel sorry for the "megacorps". The simple and in a way sad fact is that every single studio, network, cable channel and distributor is in the red. The money to just say "ah well that BluRay release was a waste of time and money" simply isn't there any longer. WBD has clearly stated that its business model from early this year onward is diversifying streaming by selling rights to third parties rather than sticking to dumping content on its own platform as the exclusive home and means to watch a certain show or movie. The public are no longer prepared to pay for a streaming service because of a handful of things that are exclusive to it. Add the cost of living crisis to that. Pretty much the entire library is available for streamers to but, including all the Lorimar stuff. RTL+ in Germany for example is just about to add Falcon Crest because it has made a big deal out of being the "home for old-school prime time soaps" and has added Dallas in HD, Dynasty in HD, 90210, Melrose Place
