This is very weird. This week I have been watching all of these documentaries on all of the Bond films on YouTube. It has made me want to buy the complete Bond boxset and I plan on doing it this weekend. I have always loved the Bond films, but watching these documentaries has really made me realise just how much. I plan on doing a complete watch in chronological order.

I ordered the complete Bond boxset and cant wait to start watching them all. I have a real nostalgia for the Sean Connery and Roger Moore films as they seemed to be on TV every other week when I was growing up.
I think I am about to go through a James Bond phase, I've even been wondering about the books.

I used to have the Bond tin with all the films and loved the documentaries on them, so I've also been watching them again on youtube.
This week I've also watched Lies of Leaving Neverland & Michael Jackson Chase The Truth - both fascinating, especially the "Lies" one as it has video of Wade & his mum's court depositions which totally contradict what they say in Leaving Neverland. Nice to see more media picking up on this too.

The latest doc from Michael Moore is now on Netflix. It was good and definitely worth a watch. Perhaps not as good as some of his best ones, it lacked focus in places, but as always quite illuminating. He certainly doesn't pull any punches going in on Trump and I learned a lot about his journey to running for President that I didn't know. Who knew it was all Gwen Stefani's fault?? Obama doesn't come out of it looking that great either, and the story of the poisoning of the water in Flint is really heartbreaking, but unfortunately not all that surprising.

BBC Rise of the Nazis - 1st of a 3 part docudrama with talking heads.
It was interesting but think the BBC should have linked it with a repeat of Nazis - A warning from history, which was an incredibly indepth 6 part series and still just as engrossing today as it was when it was first screened in 1997.
I also hope that the BBC repeat Auschwitz: The Nazis and the 'Final Solution' - these kind of documentaries really need to be seen again - especially in high schools.

Memory: The Origins of Alien. I'm a huge fan of the Alien series, I've seen every movie that xenomorph is in, and I've watched a few good docs on the making of it, so I wasn't sure if there'd be much new to learn from another Alien doc. But I was pleasantly surprised. Although it does use some interviews with Ridley Scott and others behind the scenes that I've seen in another doc, it also delves much deeper into the origins of the story and the influences that lead to the look and life cycle of the alien. It also does a good job of explaining where it fits into movie history, and how it broke the mold in many ways, yet was also an amalgamation of many different ideas borrowed from science fiction of the 50's and 60's. There's also a very detailed blow by blow account of the filming of the infamous chest-buster scene with John Hurt. It's a kind of a must-see if you're and Alien fan.

BATTLE AT VERSAILLES
A fascinating look at an event in the early 1970s that changed the landscape of the fashion world. An event that pushed American designers to the forefront and made the old boys of the Paris fashion houses take notice. Loved this documentary from start to finish. It's just such a shame that the show itself wasn't recorded.

Kapten Klänning ("Captain Gown"), a documentary about a former police chief and head of the police academy in Sweden who was also a sadistic rapist on the side. Göran Lindberg, was sentenced to a few years in prison back in 2010. Released in 2014.
A 3 part documentary about the man who publically fought for equality, but sadistically and violently raped young women, even teenagers. The most interesting part of the documentary is about how the police worked to bring down one of their own behind his back.

I've been meaning to watch this for a while now having heard good things about it. It's quite an extraordinary story and the doc is very well put together. Now on Netflix. Highly recommended.

Won't You Be My Neighbor? (2018). The Tom Hanks film about Fred Rogers will be released soon so I thought I would watch the documentary first because I knew absolutely nothing about this man. It's a fascinating documentary about a fascinating man and it's made me eager to see biopic of his life when it's out.
