Someone just answered a "Dallas" question incorrectly

Sometimes logic goes a long way in those quiz shows. You've got to give him that at least.

This is true. Even though the logic was flawed in that all three were characters on the series (he seemed to think that only one was a genuine character), it made sense for him to make a deduction with the little information he had.

One of his teammates used similar logic in choosing the English name of a flower from the Latin name. He chose the only one he'd heard of and it proved to be correct. That kind of thing happens a lot in quizzing.

When watching these series, I frequently get the correct answer immediately based on instinct or logic, but will then sometimes start doubting myself and trying to look for complications. Which I suppose is what creates the drama in series with multiple choice answers like Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

A Dallas question featured in the Answer Smash round of House Of Games tonight, on the theme of swimmers. The point is that the object in the image leads into the answer to the question. So they get smashed together.

There was a picture of this bloke:

Besides... that was actually the correct answer. The reply needs to be both answers smashed together. That's why it's called "Answer Smash". ;)

In yesterday's House Of Games, three contestants each had to give one word to the fourth as a clue to a TV show. The words they chose were:
  • Oil
  • Texas
  • Cowboys
I'm sure we can all guess the answer. Angellica Bell correctly guessed the answer from the clues and gave Gyles Brandreth the point since she'd got it from "Oil".

6pm on BBC2. It's a great show. Really creative.

I'm ashamed to admit I watch TV that early in the evening, but it's the perfect background for pottering about the kitchen starting to prepare dinner.

Ha ha. I was watching that one as well. VP popped into my head as soon as I saw the theme of the round and I smiled when she appeared as expected.

I thought she'd be a big scorer, but she was only in the low twenties which surprised me.

Yes. One of the pairs got B right, but I was still none the wiser about what she's known for.
