Loved Urkel! Thought he was hilarious but the rest of the show did nothing for me.

Modern Family. I tried, but it never worked with me. I prefer when my comedies are stupid actually Like 2 broke Girls. It was kind of lame, but I loved it.

I listed comedies because it's a genre I typically watch (unlike Science Fiction or Westerns). I have a very low tolerance for Tina Fey and Amy Poehler (though I did enjoy Mean Girls), either of them individually is difficult enough but when they're paired together I become sick to my stomach. I don't enjoy awards shows but watched The Golden Globes solely for Ricky Gervais when he was host. This year Fey and Poehler are hosting again, they are both so smug and condescending.

The Sopranos, I didn't find any of the characters to be sympathetic. I need a hero, it also helps if I think characters are flawed but capable of redemption.

All the shows have a similar style of humor, or at least in my mind. Some people might decipher them more than I do. My fiancé and her family are pretty big fans of THE OFFICE (the U.S. version) because they watch it frequently. When they finally got me to watch some episodes, it originally didn't "click" with me. I was so used to watching sitcoms with either laugh tracks of those with that "filmed before a live studio audience" disclaimer in the midst. I just didn't know where the laughs were supposed to be at, and I guess that reflects on my laziness as a viewer. Since then, I have warmed up to THE OFFICE and I actually like it a lot. It's still a show that I have to be in the mood for (which is the same thing with all the rest of them too), but when I'm in the right mood, I can binge a dozen or so episodes without an issue.

I remember SCRUBS coming on a lot on Comedy Central, but I never watched it. The only thing that stuck out to me about it was that Sarah Chalke, the second Becky on ROSEANNE, was a part of the main cast.

My fiancé is also a casual fan of PARKS & RECREATION, but I've yet to watch any of it. She says it isn't as good as THE OFFICE, but she likes it too.

I've recently tried to edge her towards 30 ROCK without knowing anything about the show other than it stars Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin. I've never seen any of the episodes, but I've mentioned it to my fiancé thinking that she will probably enjoy it.​

Game of Thrones... I don't know why. I tried maybe 3 times. And I promised myself I will try an other time, even if I know that season 8 is a major disappointment for the fans. Well, I survived Lost's final season (that I try to deny till now, as a huge fan of the show) so I will survive GOT final season too, I guess.

In other hands, I love Vikings (which is quite a different show of course)

I also like cheap comedies like Two & a Half men, The Big Bang Theory, Mum, Just shoot Me... But for some reason I never liked New Girl, or Baby Daddy.

What I mean is that the "genre" is not an issue for me. I can enjoy sci-fi, comedy, drama, girls shows, soap, historic shows...

I don't like any of the ones you mentioned, but I'd be willing to give BABY DADDY I try. My fiancé binge-watched it on Hulu and she thoroughly enjoyed it.

Never a major FAMILY MATTERS fan myself. Honestly, Urkel himself wore thin to me after a few episodes, and the rest of the cast just seemed filler. Wasn't my thang.

It's cheap comedy lol But at least I am aware of it, so I don't mind to enjoy it. I just hope I have better taste for movies (and I tend to think I do)
I really love complex movies, hard to get plots, and not easy when it's about cinema.

Funny you should mention Hogan’s Heroes @Caproni because I was having this discussion last night with someone. We both liked it a lot and we were trying to think of one other person we knew that did. Safe to say we couldn’t.

HOGAN'S HEROES has never been my cup of tea. I've watched a little of it with my father and I've yet to make it through an episode.

The series that don't click with me are the ones I don't love or like but I can't pinpoint what it is (or isn't there) that puts me off.
I can't explain why I stopped watching HANNIBAL, BATES MOTEL, BLOODLINE and VIKINGS.
There was something-something or something-not about it that just didn't click with me.
They're not completely off my radar; I've put them in a mental fridge, as it were.

On the other hand, DERRY GIRLS is *all* about the click for me - it's not a great comedy series but there's something about it that I really like.
And the series 2 finale is one of my all-time favourite TV moments.

I figured out the reason I never cared for Seinfeld and Friends was because the writing was so New York-centric, with the writers/producers not taking into account that large swathes of the country have never been to NYC or understood a lot of the in-jokes and references. Folks in the TV business spend most of their careers in NYC or in Los Angeles, surrounded by other people from those two places....so they think "everyone" finds the material familiar and entertaining.

Someone upthread mentioned RuPaul's Drag Race, and that's definitely not a show that clicks with me. I consider it a 21st-century Minstrel Show, showcasing all the worst stereotypes of gay men and straight women. Some gay friends of mine seem to think that we should watch it and support it simply because of "visibility", but what about preserving dignity? I have second-hand embarrassment for the people who appear on that show, and like the old Minstrel Shows of a hundred years ago, I expect society to view this sort of "entertainment" with very different eyes in a few decades.

The Streets of San Francisco is a favorite of mine precisely because it is not that kind of show-- I mean, sure, there's a dead body, but there wasn't (IINM) the kind of realism and graphic violence then that the shows you mentioned made their stock-in-trade.

I enjoyed BATES MOTEL almost all the way through. There was some I missed about halfway through, and I didn't really care for the post-Norma deceased story line, but it was a good show at the beginning.​

I really like LAW & ORDER: SVU and I used to be a big fan of CSI: MIAMI, but I haven't watched it in years. Don't care for the rest of them.

I've never cared for GREY'S ANATOMY, nor have I ever watched GAME OF THRONES, and I don't intend to either.

I watched THIS IS US religiously for the first four seasons, but when it came back this past year with all the coronavirus and racism included, my interest fizzled. Don't care for that at all.

There was a time that I binge-watched RIVERDALE on Netflix all the time. I skidded right on through the first three seasons with a breeze, but it got a little old and repetitive after a while.​

THIS IS US was one of my favorite shows, but this last season has really put me "off", and I just don't care to watch it like I once did. I still want to see how it all ends one of these days, but that's something that will probably happen once the entire series is available on Hulu, or I by chance get it on DVD or something.​

Bill Paxton's BIG LOVE is another one I feel I should have liked but for whatever mysterious reason it didn't really excite me.
Maybe I would give it another try if I could stream it.

SEX AND THE CITY is so drab and dull. Don't see the appeal whatsoever.

Killing Eve - I just do not get it. The hype around it and the whole fuss, it's just not for me. I actually had friends message me and tell me it was a show I would love. I couldn't for the life of me think why they would think I would like it. To say that I hated it would be too kind.

Friends, there's no real value to it. But Jennifer Aniston is just fantastic in so many movies.
