Oprah bags exclusive interview with Meghan and Harry

I think doing an interview with Oprah is a good choice on their part. Oprah is a respected TV show host that has interviewed a lot of people, including Harry's aunt the duchess of York several times. I think they can trust her to handle their interview with the class and respect they deserve. I look forward to watch this. :)

I totally agree. I don't think Meghan and Harry will dish the dirt on the Royal Family so I really don't understand why so many people are getting their knickers in a twist over the interview. I doubt whether they will say that much more about the split from the Royal Family than they already said in their interviews with Tom Bradby during their tour of Africa. I'm sure most of the interview will be about their philanthropic work.

People are more angry about Meghan giving an interview with Oprah than they were about Andrew giving an interview with Emily Maitlis.

They do have a right to get on with their lives and if they are using the interview as a platform to do good I think that can only be of benefit. I read that Oprah is a very good friend of Doria Ragland’s as well. I don’t see why Meghan should have to dumb down who she is to pacify anyone, least of all a family who take so much from others.

People immediately jumping to the conclusion that Harry and Meghan will dish the dirt on the Royal Family because those people look for any excuse to continue their attacks on the couple. Apparently, even The Queen isn't worried about the interview so why are so many other people getting their knickers in a twist?

Understand I am an American and have no use whatsoever for royalty...

But...

I can not imagine what William and Harry went through as children. The pressure. The scrutiny. The loss of their mother and being forced to walk behind her casket so that the world could focus on their mourning....

I refuse to stand in judgement of them or their wives. They were born into a cluster f*ck. All they can do is deal with it all as best they can.

I'm a UK citizen and I question what use I have for royalty.

I completely agree with you about the trauma that Harry and Willie must have gone through as children particularly after their mother was killed. Harry in particular has discussed his mental health issues and how he has had to have therapy for it. This is why I find the way the Royal Family have refused to accommodate his wish to be a part time Royal and instead cast him aside completely to be unnecessarily heartless.

I am interested in seeing this to find out what their future plans are. I find Meghan captivating - Kate does have a certain image to project as a likely future Queen consort however I do find her incredibly robotic. Something doesn’t sit well with me and I dare say she was very jealous when a dynamic woman with a mind of her own entered the realms of the palace. I wish both couples well but Harry and Meghan are by far the more exciting - which a Royal shouldn’t really be and it’s possible they could showcase a life where it’s possible to be royal but to move away from the stuffiness and age old institution which we currently see. It’s not healthy and it isn’t right.

And as a side note, I’m finding the news reports concerning Prince Philip to me incredibly unnecessary. Why do we need to know he’s in hospital and for ‘rest’? Rest from what? At 99, he certainly hasn’t been doing anything that requires a lot of rest. The people who are out there every day fighting this pandemic and continuing to work, those who have lost relatives and are consumed by grief - they need rest. It baffles me why there is so much focus put on this man.

Just watched the interview as it was on Swedish TV3 tonight. It was great to watch Oprah again. :hat:I've missed watching her on TV since the Oprah Winfrey Show went off the air. I know she's done lots of new projects since but they haven't gotten the same reception, at least not over here.

Then as for the interview with Harry and Meghan. Well first off I am happy for them that they are having another child. I am curious about what they are going to name their daughter. :)

Meghan comes across as a confident, beautiful, strong but conflicted woman. She obviously has her share of problems and pain but she seems pretty good at hiding how she really feels. Maybe it's because she's an actress. I had definitely not expected her to say that she had suicidal thoughts while being pregnant with her son.:yikey: It should have been a happy time for her and Harry. But sadly that doesn't seem to have been the case at all. Also I had hoped that she would have tried to mend her relationship with her father now when she is living in the USA but sadly that doesn't seem to be the case as she referred to that she had lost him.

I feel really sorry for Prince Harry. He loves his father and his brother but it was clear that his decision to leave the royal family has hurt them deeply and has alienated him from them. I don't think it was fair that he had to make a choice between his father and brother and his wife and son. :(
I can see why Harry and Meghan would want to get away from the British tabloids though. The way they went on writing all that negative stuff about Meghan is like they were bullying her. Of course it's nothing new as they were horrible to Fergie too at times. I can understand why the Royal family wants to maintain good PR relations. But throwing Meghan under the bus was not a smart move on their part.

Over all I think some of the things that Meghan said about Harry's family was so vague that it raised more questions than it answered. :think:Harry also seems a little uncomfortable talking on TV while Meghan is clearly in her element. She loves being on camera.

So that was my two cents about the interview. What was yours?

I really felt bad for her when she talked about being suicidal. You can see they both have some regrets over some of the personal relationships in their lives as well. But overall I think they are happy together and everyone deserves that right.

I gave up after half an hour, some of the most self-indulgent tosh I've ever heard second only to Prince Andrew's interview. A lesson to all American women, don't try living out your Disney princess fantasy by marrying into a family you haven't done basic research into the political and social makeup of.

I'm not really interested in this royal stuff, but because of big US ratings I watched it. There is something about Meghan for sure. I'm neutral to royals even to the one's not being so popular, but in this interview Meghan unlike Harry made me choose if I like her or not, that's a gift, I guess...

How interesting The Royal Household will have HR conduct an investigation into claims Meghan was a bully yet play hide and seek when it comes to Andrew.
Yes and how quickly they set up the investigation and leaked that news to the media. Will they set up an investigation into racism at the Palace and how they responded to Meghan's pleas for help with her mental health issues? It's already been 2 days and so far they haven't.

And don't get me started regarding Andrew!

I really don't care what her skin tone is its Meghans personality I dislike, she's an absolute fame ho imo in the same way as The Beckhams/Katie Price etc

Harry I find much much worse though, I value family loyalty through the roof and have absolutely no time for backstabbers.

But where was the loyalty from the rest of the Royal Family to Harry and his wife. She was suicidal and they did nothing to help, just like they did with Diana. They were "concerned" about the colour of the skin of her child which is absolutely appalling. Loyalty goes both ways.

MEghan has shown us that she is a toxic manipulative narcissist who has Harry exactly where she wants him. I don't believe for one minute that she was actually suicidal. She's clearly done enough homework on Diana to use it to play sick mind games with Harry to play into his deep rooted fears from his adolescence and alienate him from his family. William has always been left to clean up after Harry's poor life choices, and he appeared rightfully pissed off today that Harry has put him in that position yet again.

I'm so fascinated by people who think they know Meghan better than her friends who have said very complimentary things about her.

I hope no one you know ever goes to you asking for help when they have suicidal thoughts if that's your reaction.

Some people seem to be more angry that Harry and Meghan revealed what a member of the Royal family said than they are that one of them made a racist comment.

As Oprah herself says, when someone shows you who they are, believe them. MEghan"s actions speak louder than empty words from her "friends" that she uses to manipulate the press about her. She likes to weave narratives that unravel when her bluff gets called. Don"t know Samantha Markle, haven't seen her in decades.. Oh really? Samantha. has shown pictures that indicate otherwise. When Harry joined the interview, he said the alleged conversation about their baby's skin tone took place before they got married, not while she waa pregnant with Archie, as she alleged. And it seems even the Archbishop Of Canterbury called MEghan's bluff by saying his recollection about the supposed secret wedding is different. It's obvious from Queen Elizabeth's statement and carefully chosen use of the word "recollections" that she has already spoken with the family member and isn't convinced that MEghan and Harry were being completely truthful about the conversation.. And I'd bet that the truth about what happened with Kate is that she didn't like the way MEghan was treating people at the dress fitting and called her out on it. Publicly airing an incident that happened 3 years ago and was resolved privately speaks volumes about who .MEghan is.
