Which two characters...

This is a spin off thread from one I started in the Dallas forum.
Dallas had an episode in which JR and Bobby were stuck in an elevator and had something of a "heart to heart." All in the Family did a similar episode in which Archie and Mike were locked in a storeroom. AitF did it much better than Dallas, imho.
What are some shows that did the same thing and how successful was the episode?
Are there two characters on a show that you thought would have wanted to see in such a scene?

I remember Archie and Mike getting locked in the storeroom together. That’s a classic episode! Such a perfect scenario for those two characters to be in together.

But I think what might’ve been even better was if it was Archie and George Jefferson. That could’ve been epic!

Aren't these what are referred to as "bottle episodes"? Or maybe I'm misunderstanding the term. Put characters in a situation where they are trapped/forced together and cannot just walk out of the uncomfortable conversations that are generated.

Fran and CC got locked in the basement in a famous episode of The Nanny, which culminated in Fran giving CC a rather....familiar hairdo makeover.

Bottle episodes (there's some disagreement as to why the word "bottle" is used) are episodes that use the fewest cast members possible (often just two) and are usually on just one set. The original Star Trek is credited with creating the first bottle episode. They were created to save money for other episodes that cost more due to location shooting, special effects, etc.

EastEnders did a brilliant bottle episode with Dot and Ethel, I cried my eyes out.

South Park (an animated series doing a bottle episode? Why not?) did an episode with the boys trapped on the school bus. The episode also parodied the trope of the "clip show", the difference being the "clips" were not what the show had previously aired. I thought the episode did a great job of combining both tropes.

I would have loved a bottle episode (or several) on original Dynasty: Blake and Alexis; Krystle and Alexis; Krystle and Sable; Fallon and Jeff; Fallon, Adam and Steven.

Dallas: Pam and J.R.; Pam and Sue Ellen; Donna and J.R.

Knots Landing: Val and Abby.

Falcon Crest: Angela and Richard.

Desperate Housewives did this when Susan and Edie were locked in Katherine's basement and the two frenemies were forced to reflect on their relationship with each other and their behavior towards men. I think this happened in season 5.

Dawson's Creek dedicated a whole episode to Pacey and Joey when they were locked inside a shopping mall and had to spend the night there. It was a season 6 episode and they were the only main characters who appeared in that episode.

I liked the Bobby and JR episode
Mike and Archie ( All in the Family) Episode was great.

I loved “The Fly” episode on “Breaking Bad” too.
