It's a sad day for Corrie

Very sad indeed to see a cobble-less Corrie looking so unloved.

Such a shame they couldn't have continued to use it for tours. I'm glad I had the opportunity to visit and walk on the street a couple of years ago and will cherish the pictures I took of the experience.

I too will cherish my memories of visiting the old set.

However, I believe the cobbles which have been dug up from the old set are to be used on the new set at Trafford Wharf which is to be extended with new houses for additional characters when the programme moves to 6 episodes a week, next year

Aww. I feel quite moved looking at those pictures. But they're fascinating too. Like history in the making.

Where did you find these pics, Ome? They're quite incredible.

it reminded me of pictures from Brookside when that started to deteriorate.

I know what you mean. Except Brookside is now looking sparkly again, and that will never happen for Corrie. :(

What really strikes me about this is how realistically run down it looks. I don't look at it and think of a set that's been neglected.

Looking at the pictures you posted felt very familiar and I've just realised why. It reminds me of the pictures I've seen of Archie Street before it was demolished:

It also reminds me of the end of the Grape Street set:

It's completely wrong that yet again this piece of history isn't being preserved. If I had billions I'd seriously consider buying it and moving in. :D
