Netflix That 90s show

Netflix has ordered a spin-off of That 70s show. The new series will follow Leia Forman, daughter of Eric & Donna, who is visiting grandparents Red & Kitty (Kurtwood Smith & Debra Jo Rupp reprising their roles) in Point Place for the summer.

More actors will reprise their roles, but no word yet who.

not a bad idea but as long as they don't do a show like that 80's show that show was so bad it was painful to watch it more than 2 minutes of it. i was grateful when that awful show was cancelled

I guess the advantage of this is that they'll have OG cast members, which I guess makes sense since they would technically be in the 90s now if the show had continued.
Though Fresh Off the Boat and recently Schooled did the whole 90s thing.

they would think be in the 90's hell they would have been in the mid 80's to take a guess had they started in the 70's and not kept the show in the 70's and used real life time span.

So excited for this. I was peeved when Netflix removed That 70's Show from their streaming service. I've read this series will commence from 1995, the year Windows 95 was released. I cannot wait to see how Red will interact with the onset of technology. And I'm looking forward to hearing "dumbass".

I was only a moderate fan of the original, watching it sporadically in its first few seasons. The sequel series seems like a pretty good idea, and the shorter Netflix seasons may hold my attention longer.

Maybe it would have worked if it had been a British/Irish tv series. There's something about 1980s Americana that doesn't translate very well when it's done by Americans themselves.

That's interesting. Maybe it's a sense of distance That's needed.

I love That 70s Show and most characters. Eric's sister Laurie was annoying, but she was a good antagonist for them all.

I think That 90s Show can be good too. I doubt I will love it equally as much as the 70s show, but with same characters played by the same actors is a huge plus. I doubt Red has mellowed much, and Kitty will probably be highly protective and joke nervously as things get tense.

I love that Eric and Donna named their daughter Leia considering that Eric was always a huge Star Wars fan with a major crush on Princess Leia.

I've been only a casual fan of THAT '70s SHOW over the years, finding myself liking specific episodes rather than the show itself. When the show was funny... it was funny, but it was quite often drab and quite frankly dull to me. I can watch a few episodes in one sitting, but it isn't long before I've got the desire to move on to something else.

That being said, I might would be interest in a sequel-spinoff series. I don't have Netflix -- nor do I necessarily plan to have it again -- but I might would check it out if ever I had the opportunity to do so. It would be interesting and somewhat nostalgic to see where the characters would be in the '90s.​

So far only the characters of Red and Kitty have been mentioned from the original series. I like how it's Eric and Donna's daughter making her debut in this continuation as it tells us Eric and Donna did receive their happy ending...or did they? Depending on the success of this initial short run we may see other characters from the original run make an appearance though its highly unlikely we will see the return of Hyde.

What I enjoyed about That 70's Show was how these kids would hang out constantly at the Forman house much to Red's annoyance. Despite his insistence they stop, 'eating my food', 'go home', or the constant threat of having a foot up their arse the kids just loved being there. I really hope the writers don't change Red's personality to fit todays woke viewers. Let Red be Red.
